7 Village Noodle House at Pulau Tikus, Penang - @ivanachandravoo

The 60 year old recipe never fail to impress. For an affordable price, you get a bowl of koay teow thng that tastes so good, and portion big enough to feed even a big eater like me. And we're just talking about the regular size. The best part, you get to enjoy it in an air-conditioned restaurant.

I'm quite a frequent visitor to their branch at Pulau Tikus; especially during those hot sunny afternoon lunch.

Most people think that dining in a restaurant would be expensive; but this is not the case with 7 Village.

In fact, you'll hardly find anymore cheaper in Penang these days.

The Koay Teow Thng

Penang Koay Teow Thng
Seven Village Koay Teow Thng - @timlow2002

For 5 ringgit, you get a regular sized bowl of koay teow th'ng, filled with generous amount of minced pork, meat slices, fish balls, pork lards and garnishes.

Though regular sized, I often find myself over-eating for that meal soon as I finish. (I'm a big eater according to my friends)

Classic Koay Teow Th'ng
Classic Koay Teow Thng - @manfred_khoo

We really have to highlight the broth when it comes to koay teow thng.

It has been very consistent during our many visits; and it's packed with flavors. You also don't get the thirst from MSG.

The koay teow is silky smooth, just like the uncle koay teow th'ng which we also love a lot.

Recommended Dishes

The restaurant offers extensive options, ranging from different types of noodles (vermicelli, yellow noodle, silver needle), dry or soup version, ramen, and side dishes.

We'd really recommend you to check out their braised pork knuckle and the dry ramen with charsiew if you're not up for a soupy day.

We find the pork knuckle slices quite flavorful while the ramen were equally tasty with charsiew.

And unlike many coffee shop that serves you 'sourish' coffee which has been soaked for hours, the Ice coffee here is worth a praise.

On the first few visits, the coffee were a little too sweet for our liking; but we loved the smooth and silky taste.

The thickness were on point and the aroma smelled so good when you sip in.

Just ask for less sweet like we did on our subsequent visits.
