So is it cendol, chendol or chendul?

Operating from a pushcart located at Lebuh Keng Kwee (off Penang road), this Chendul stall boasts a history dating back to the 1936.

The Penang Road Famous Teow Chew Cendol founder, Mr Tan started the business of selling this simple dessert to support his family during the 1930s.

The taste of this dessert has not only made recognitions among the locals, but also slowly gaining interest from their fans all over Malaysia. To date, this humble stall has expanded into severals states throughout Malaysia.

Still though, many that visits Penang will not miss the opportunity to try out the original bowl tucked in the narrow lane of Lebuh Keng Kwee under our Penang's scorching hot sun.

Bowls of green looking pandan-flavored worm-jelly with red kidney beans floating on a bed of coconut milk and shaved ice are being freshly assembled as the crowds came to queue up for orders continuously on daily basis.

A quick stir before indulging into this bowl of goodness will ensure all the ingredients are properly mixed with the sweetness of gula Melaka (palm sugar). While every spoonful of it will bring you the much needed refreshing remedy to the blistering heat of Georgetown.

Stand-eating by the roadside used to be the authentic way to enjoy the famous Teow Chew Chendol when it first began.

Luckily for us now, there are also shoplots with air-conditioner provided if you prefer to sit down and enjoy in the cool.
